Kane first Canadian NHLer to commit to KHL

Evander Kane may have a lucrative new contract in his pocket from the Winnipeg Jets, but his next game will be played in the Kontinental Hockey League.
Locked out by the NHL, the Jets’ leading goal scorer has signed with Dinamo Minsk, according to the team’s website, and could be in action as soon as next Tuesday after travelling across the pond.
He becomes the first Canadian NHLer to commit to the KHL.
Just prior to being locked out, the Jets and Kane announced a six-year contract extenstion worth $31.5 million. The 21-year-old Vancouver product is coming off his best campaign after potting 30 goals and adding 27 assists. He has worn Canada’s colours at the last three IIHF World Hockey Championships.
Kane will be joining former teammate Tim Stapleton in Minsk. Stapleton signed in the KHL this summer when he couldn’t work out a new deal with the Jets.
