Kane won't play tonight

WINNIPEG -- Evander Kane will not play tonight for the Winnipeg Jets.

The left-winger is out day-to-day with a lower-body injury, the Jets said this morning after Kane did not participate in the morning skate. The Jets play the Pittsburgh Penguins tonight at the MTS Centre (TSN Jets, 1290).

"Can't go there," Jets coach Claude Noel said this morning when asked about Kane. "He blocked a shot (on Saturday)."

Kane was not available to reporters after Saturday's 4-1 loss in Phoenix and the Free Press speculated at that point he might be injured.

Noel wasn't in much of a rehash mood this morning about his 0-3 team. The Jets have no points in the first three games of the season.

"I thought I knew our group but they threw us a curveball," Noel said. "I think it'll all come back to us."
