Ladd and wife proud new parents of son

WINNIPEG -- Winnipeg Jets captain Andrew Ladd is back at work today and probably feeling on top of the world.

Not only is the NHL season upon us -- Saturday's first game is just two days away -- but he and his wife Brandy are the proud new parents of a son, Locklan Joseph, the team said this morning.

Ladd was away from the team on Wednesday and missed practice for what the team said were personal reasons. The personal reasons were the arrival of Locklan at about 1:30 Wednesday afternoon.

"It was an amazing moment," said Ladd. "Anyone who has had a chance to witness their child being born, it’s unlike anything else. I can’t really even put it into words."

At Thursday's Jets practice downtown, Ladd was in full gear, as was Nik Antropov for the second day in a row. Antropov didn't pass his medical last weekend due to a minor upper-body injury, and missed three days of training camp. Also missing was Antti Miettinen, who was hurt earlier in the week and is believed lost for some time.

New face Anthony Peluso, wearing No. 14, was on the ice with his new teammates today. He was claimed off waivers from the St. Louis Blues on Wednesday.
