It looks like the Jets could be without Tobias Enstrom for a long stretch.

Head coach Claude Noel said Thursday after the Jets’ morning skate at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum that the team’s top defenceman has suffered a broken collar bone and will be out indefinitely.

Enstrom was levelled by a hit from Florida Panthers’ forward Jack Skille in Monday’s win and left the game immediately. He did not accompany the team north to New York for the road trip, instead returning to Winnipeg to be evaluated by team doctors.

The 26-year-old Swede leads the Jets in minutes played and in scoring among defencemen as well as playing pivotal roles on the team’s power-play and penalty-kill units.
