The lineups

ABOUT THE CAPS

  • Coming to Winnipeg off of Wednesday's 4-1 loss in Philadelphia, dropping the team to a conference-worst 7-11-1 record, good for 15 points. The Caps had won twice before dropping the game in Philly.
  • Today's game is more or less a one-off, then the team is home for four of the next five. Washington will be back at the MTS Centre March 21 and 22 for a rare NHL doubleheader.
  • The Caps come to Winnipeg with five power-play goals in their last 14 chances and the NHL's No. 3 power play. Should be a key matchup against the Jets' 30th-ranked penalty-killing.
  • It's centre Mike Ribeiro, not left-winger Alex Ovechkin, who's lead the Caps in scoring. Ribeiro has six goals and 22 points through 19 games, making GM George McPhee's trade with Dallas at last year's draft (for Cody Eakin and the No. 54 pick) look pretty good. Ovechkin is tied for second in team scoring with eight goals and 15 points.
