Big picture
Winnipeg started the night four points behind Washington for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. The Capitals get out of town with their position over the Jets intact, but the lead is down to two points with 11 games to play. The Caps are still in the driver's seat (they hold some valuable tie-breakers), but that talk is a little premature. Still a lot to be decided at the bottom of the conference.
Little picture
Mind your own business. Take care of what's in your own backyard. That's what Winnipeg is doing this week. With the win over Washington, the Jets are two-for-two on this three-game homestand and improve their home record to an impressive 23-10-4 overall.
Game-breaker
Dustin Byfuglien gets the honours for his game-winning goal at the 9:21 mark of the third period. The big defenceman made a strong move to the goal and deposited an Evander Kane pass while the clubs were skating 4-on-4.
