HIGHLIGHT REEL Jets 4 / Hurricanes 2

AT THE MTS CENTRE

Big picture

The win gives the Jets four in a row, the longest streak of the season and they've now won eight of their last 11 to move into ninth in the Eastern Conference, just one spot out of a playoff berth. Winnipeg is now 13-11-4 and has 30 points. After playing the Red Wings in Detroit today they will return to Winnipeg for a six-game homestand.

Little picture

Another fast start that turned into a dominant performance. The Jets are beginning to play with confidence and smarts. It's fun to watch and rewarding for the players. A win-win.

Game-breaker

With the Hurricanes still in the game midway through the second period, Jets forward Tim Stapleton put the Jets ahead 3-0 with a power-play marker for his third of the season. The Jets were enjoying a 5-on-3 and Stapleton took a pass from Kyle Wellwood before moving into the middle of the ice and hammering a slapshot through traffic that Cam Ward couldn't find until the puck was in the net.

Toy drive

The Jets took part in the Christmas Miracle Toy and Cash Drive on Friday night, asking fans to donate unwrapped gifts or cash. The fans responded, donating 2,500 gifts and $7,800 in cash.
