Big picture
For the second straight week, the Jets pinned a decisive loss on a very hot NHL team. This time it was Dallas, 9-0-1 in its previous 10 coming into the MTS Centre. The Stars were no match for the Jets or their crowd on this night, continuing a woe familiar to Winnipeg in that they are now 1-10-2 on the second night of back-to-backs. The Jets used the two points to move to within four of the eighth-place Washington Capitals in the Eastern Conference, with the Caps coming in here Friday.
Little picture
Nik Antropov's goal just 2:21 into the game got the Jets and their fans going, then the home team spanked the Stars for four more in the second period. Evander Kane, Eric Fehr and two by Andrew Ladd put up a 5-0 lead and a pair of Dallas goals by Loui Eriksson were of no consquence. Neither was a bit of Dallas stupidity near the game's conclusion, mainly Adam Burish beaking Jets goalie Ondrej Pavelec. The 36th straight home sellout went home very happy ... again.
Game-breaker
The second goal of the game, a one-time rebound return by Kane just 1:19 into the second period, was a big message, both for the Jets and Stars. The Jets were not going to be content with the sit-back game similar to what went on in Minnesota on Tuesday, when Dallas won 1-0.
Free Press ★★★
★ Andrew Ladd, Jets. The captain captained with two goals in another must-have game.
★★ Nik Antropov, Jets. Picked a very good time for his 11th goal of the season.
★★★ Ron Hainsey, Jets. Plus-two; doing what it takes to keep the Jets moving forward.
