Big picture
The Jets haven't been blazing hot, but certainly warm enough -- as in 4-1-2 in their homestand so far -- to make this Eastern Conference playoff race interesting for at least a few more days. A romp over the first-place Panthers pushed Winnipeg two points away from the division lead and over the idol Washington Capitals and back into eighth spot.
Little picture
A fast start, as in two goals in the first 6:03 of the game, got the Jets playing with some measure of confidence. Then the home team corrected Monday's big problem -- an awful third period -- by blitzing Florida for four third-period goals to create the runaway score. Evander Kane had two more goals to reach 26 for the season.
Game-breaker
Well, Florida defenceman Keaton Ellerby's first-period free pizza for Kane's game-opening goal was one, but when Jets defenceman Mark Stuart ping-ponged one home off Kyle Wellwood's leg at 1:49 of the third, it was clear the Jets were not going to repeat Monday's meltdown against Edmonton.
