Jetcetera: first-season highlights

  • Print

After less than one season of Jetcetera reports, it might seem a little early for a greatest-hits package but if Terence Trent D'Arby, Tiffany and the Backstreet Boys could do it shortly after their debuts, what the hey?

Reporter Geoff Kirbyson and video editor Tyler Walsh went behind the scenes for some fascinating looks at what makes the Jets – both the players and the organization – tick. Highlights include the in-game production and the duties of off-ice officials (are those perogies in the same fridge where the game pucks are kept?) to Jets on Twitter nd in the medical room.

The story on the loudness of the MTS Centre, our last one of the year, was probably way overdue, considering the reputation boisterous Jets fans garnered throughout the year.

Kirbyson won’t be eager to revisit the physical testing the Jets are put through in training camp. But Walsh’s low camera positioning and instincts during the Wingate test – the most excruciating of them all – would have been perfect had Kirbyson done the expected and thrown up.

Look for periodic Jetcetera reports during the summer. If you have any ideas, feel free to forward them to geoff.kirbyson@freepress.mb.ca or tyler.walsh@freepress.mb.ca.
