Winnipeg Free Press - PRINT EDITION

Jets at Lightning

About the Jets: The Jets just played the wildest game of their new history in Winnipeg, taking a 9-8 win over the Philadelphia Flyers. Winnipeg is playing the second of a seven-game road trip. They will stay in Florida for a game with the Panthers on Monday and then head to New York. The Jets have won two of three games and are 3-5-1 on the season... Jets goalie Chris Mason did not practise with his teammates Friday. The Jets play the Lightning tonight and it's uncertain if Mason can take part. If not, the club would recall a goalie from the St. John's IceCaps -- most likely Peter Mannino. Centre Aaron Gagnon has cleared waivers and been assigned to the IceCaps. The Jets have also placed forward Brett MacLean on waivers. The club will assign MacLean to the St. John's IceCaps if he clears. MacLean has two assists in five games.

About the Lightning: The Lightning dropped a 5-3 decision to the Nashville Predators on Thursday and are 4-4-2 on the season. Sniper Steven Stamkos has five goals in his last four games. The Bolts have elected to keep rookie Brett Connolly with the team for the season. Former Moose Ryan Shannon was a healthy scratch against the Preds.
