Jets 2-Lightning 1

★ Al Montoya, goalie, Jets: The Jets faced a 5-on-3 for a full two minutes in the second period and Montoya was up to the task. He gave up a goal on a Steven Stamkos bomb in the third but was perfect the rest of the way.

★★ Steven Stamkos, centre, Lightning: Stamkos is a closer and when he got his chance, he buried it. Say what you want about Sidney Crosby or anyone else in the league, Stamkos is near the very top.

★★★ Eric Tangradi, left-winger, Jets: Tangradi has been a dominant player in the AHL and showed some of that flash scoring his first of the season and second career NHL goal.

The group, which includes Nik Antropov, Alexei Ponikarovsky, Jim Slater, Chris Thorburn, Jamie Wright, Anthony Peluso, Kyle Wellwood, Antti Miettinen, Eric Tangradi and Mark Scheifele, combined for just seven goals and 12 assists.

YZERMAN'S VISOR:

Lightning GM Steve Yzerman discussed his view on visors Thursday night in the wake of Rangers' Marc Staal's season-ending eye injury: "It took me 20 years but I wore one in my last year. I had an eye injury and put one on. It took a little getting used to but not that much. I would encourage everyone to wear one."
