Jets Report
Florida Panthers at Winnipeg Jets
When: Tonight 6 p.m. CT, MTS Centre
On the Air: CBC, TSN 1290.
About the Jets: Their up-and-down January continued Thursday with a 4-1 win over the tiring Sabres, leaving a 3-6-0 mark so far this month...Winnipeg's 15 home wins ranked third-most in the conference but largely because of their poor road record, 7-12-4, the Jets were 10th in the conference heading for tonight's game...Jets LW Evander Kane, who leads the team with 18 goals, doesn't have any in the last 10 games...RW Blake Wheeler, who leads in points with 33, returned Thursday after missing two games, and had one assist...The Jets have a second straight home game tonight in which their opponent will have played the night before in Chicago...Winnipeg still doesn't have a win this season when trailing after two periods, 0-15-2, but with Thursday's win, improved its third-period goals tally to 30-51.
About the Panthers: The Panthers, who played Friday night in Chicago, have been in the Southeast Division lead for 62 days this season but were knocked out of that run on the tiebreaker by the Washington Capitals earlier in the week...Both teams played Friday...Florida, with 52 points entering Friday's play, was one of the league's best road teams out of the game but heading for the game with the Hawks, was 0-3-4 in the previous seven...After a sizzling start, RW Kris Versteeg had cooled considerably. He had one assist in eight games prior to Friday's contest but still led the team in scoring with 39 points...Tonight's game completes a three-game road tirp in four nights.
