Jets take off on road in Arizona

The Winnipeg Jets will open their 2014-15 season in the desert and follow it with a little California dreamin.'

The NHL unveiled the home openers for all 30 teams on Saturday and the Jets will begin Thursday, Oct. 9 in Arizona against the Coyotes before heading to San Jose two days later for the Sharks' home debut.

The Jets will play their first game in front of their MTS Centre faithful on Friday, Oct. 17 against the Nashville Predators.

The league's complete 1,230-game schedule will be released today at 3 p.m.
