A sure sign the lazy, hazy days of summer are coming to and end: the Winnipeg Jets have unveiled plans for both their prospects training camp and their TV broadcast schedule.
The Jets Prospects Training Camp will begin Thursday, Sept. 5 with a 10 a.m. practice at the MTS Iceplex before the players head to Penticton, B.C., for the Vancouver Canucks 2013 Young Stars Classic Tournament that afteronnon.
Jets prospects will play in three games in Penticton: vs. San Jose on Sept. 6, Edmonton on Sept. 7 and Vancouver on Sept. 9.
Jets veterans will report on Wednesday, Sept. 11 for medicals and testing and just three days later some of them will be participating in the Kraft Hockeyville Game in Stirling-Rawdon, Ont., on Sept. 14.
Meanwhile, the team also announced its TV broadcast schedule for the 2013-14 season.
All Jets games will be televised with their debut -- Tuesday, Oct. 1 (9 p.m.) in Edmonton against the Oilers -- once again featured on CBC's Hockey Night in Canada. The Jets will appear on HNIC 14 times, eight at home, six on the road.
Winnipeg will also be featured five times in TSN's national network (three home, two on the road), including a divisional match-up against the reigning Stanley Cup Champion Chicago Blackhawks on Wednesday, Nov. 6 at 7 p.m.
The other two home dates on TSN national will be against the Vancouver Canucks -- Jan. 31 and March 12 -- and Jets fans should note the game times for both have been changed to 7:30 p.m.
The remaining Jets games will be regionally televised (available in Manitoba, Saskatchewan and parts of Northwestern Ontario) on TSN Jets, including the three exhibition games, and feature play-by-play man Dennis Beyak and analysts Shane Hnidy, Brian Engblom and Mike Johnson. TSN Jets coverage kicks off with Minnesota at Winnipeg on Thursday, Sept. 19 at 7 p.m.
As well, all 82 games, including all seven exhibition games, can also be heard on the radio on TSN 1290 with play-by-play voice Brian Munz.
