Jets/lockout FAQ
Q: Are all the Jets here for training camp?
A: Evander Kane, Mark Scheifele and Nik Antropov were all on the ice at MTS Centre Saturday afternoon for an informal skate with eight players and goaltender Al Montoya.
Alex Ponikarovsky, who played in the KHL, was travelling Saturday and is expected to be here soon.
That said, the Jets could still add an unrestricted free agent before camp officially starts.
Q: Is the MTS Centre good to go?
A: Yes. The ice has been in for a few days now. There are no ads on the boards as of yet and there will be a lot of last-minute stuff needed to be done in advance of Saturday's opener against the Ottawa Senators.
Q: Are the coaches involved with practice at all?
A: They haven't been until today. Claude Noel has been spotted watching a bit of practice over the last few days, but he couldn't have any contact until all the CBA stuff was put to bed. J.P. Vigier, who ran a lot of the workouts during the lockout at Iceplex, did the same for a couple of days at MTS Centre but was not on the ice Saturday. Now that the CBA is ratified coaches can take to the ice with their players.
Q: The Jets didn't bring back winger Eric Fehr. Has he found work yet?
A: Fehr put up good numbers with HPK Hameenlinna in Finland -- 13 goals and 12 assists in 21 games -- and it sounds like he is heading back to Washington. The Washington Times reports he'll sign as soon as the NHL officially opens for business.
