Game Day: Jets vs. Sabres

  • Print

ABOUT THE SABRES

Buffalo is coming off a 3-2 win over New Jersey on Saturday, has won three straight for the third time this year and is 5-2-2 in their last nine games.

"Our main focus is still to win," Sabres' forward Nathan Gerbe told The Buffalo News. "Obviously, we're not cashing in this season. We're within reach of the playoffs. We know that as a group, and we have the guys here that can get it done.

"The organization itself wants to turn around. It doesn't mean we can't win. It doesn't mean they don't want us to win. Teams aren't going to take us lightly because we're turning things around. We've still got guys in here that want to win and obviously make the playoffs."

The Sabres surrendered a short-handed goal vs. the Devils, their league-leading seventh marker against while they are holding a man advantage. Buffalo's power play is the only unit in the NHL ranked worse than the Jets', at 30th overall.

Sabres' forward Thomas Vanek, who leads the team in scoring (16G, 17A) missed his sixth straight game last Saturday with an upper-body muscle strain but could be good to go against the Jets.
