Tonight's lineups

ABOUT THE LEAFS

Toronto had its six-game winning streak go down in flames Thursday night in a 7-1 defeat in Dallas. That ended the Leafs' longest win streak since 2005-06.

In the seven games prior to Thursday's trouncing, Toronto's top line of Phil Kessel, James van Riemsdyk (above right) and Tyler Bozak (above left) had combined for 14 goals and 30 points.

If you are expecting a soft game tonight at the MTS Centre, you'd be well advised to think again. Through Thursday's games, the Leafs led the NHL in recorded hits, 1,768, and were third in fighting majors, with 33.

In something of a reversal of his personal history, Leafs coach Randy Carlyle has seen his team excel at the shootout this season. Toronto is 9-4, the best mark in the NHL apart from Pittsburgh's meagre 4-0.

In some cases, it's splitting hairs, but tonight's game features two of the youngest teams in the league. As of early in the week, Winnipeg was the youngest at an average age of 26.6, while Toronto was tied for third at 27.0.
