Puck in face could force Ladd out tonight
Captain didn't look so hot on Friday
THE Winnipeg Jets have a little more in the way of immediate injury troubles.
Captain Andrew Ladd, who took a puck in the face on Thursday and required three stitches above his nose and three in his nose, was not doing that well on Friday and was sent to see team doctors.
"He looks a lot worse today," head coach Claude Noel said. "I don't know if you had the pleasure of seeing him. He looks a lot worse today so we're just going to get him checked out."
Ladd could be a question mark for tonight's home game against Carolina, Noel said.
"Players always want to play so they're going to give you your utmost to get in the lineup," he said. "We'll have to assess that from the experts."
The Jets expect to be without defenceman Ron Hainsey, who has missed two games with an upper-body injury. He'll likely be out a week, Noel said.

The Jets, at 1-4-1, are certainly searching for answers early in the season but Noel said he's not been overrun with advice -- just yet.
"No, but you always listen to people," he said. "Chevy (GM Kevin Cheveldayoff) has won a lot in the past. So you would listen. Same with Zinger (assistant GM Craig Heisinger).
"But more of what they see, it's interesting. It's good stuff. People aren't at that stage where they're prepared to give you the remedies for the power play. Not yet, anyway."

Second-year forward Alexander Burmistrov is no longer a teenager.
The Jets leading scorer through six games (five points) turned 20 on Friday.
He was asked what the team might try to lift its record from a disappointing start.
"More shooting," Burmistrov said. "Don't be scared (to) go to the net."
He said the big picture was still in focus for the Jets.
"We want to be in the playoffs," he said. "For me, I've never been in the playoffs. A lot of (our) young guys have never been in the playoffs. We want to make this happen."
