Free Press ★★★
★ Braden Holtby, Washington. Often overlooked fact — when goalies don’t give up any softies, their team’s chances rise dramatically.
★★ Matt Hendricks, Washington. First gamewinner of the season, you noticed him most of the game.
★★★ John Erskine, Washington. Nearly 20 minutes of stable defending, was a plus-two.
Elite company
Though he had a quiet Saturday like his teammates, Jets captain Andrew Ladd is tied for fourth in the NHL in goals scored, with 12. Ladd also has three gamewinners this season. Four NHL skaters have four.
Bottom feeders
Tuesday’s game pitting the Jets against Florida will have five players sporting among the worst plus-minus rating in the NHL this season. Jets centre Olli Jokinen is at -10 for the season, while Florida defenceman Erik Gudbrandson is at the same level in just 12 games. Florida defenceman Brian Campbell is -11, while Panthers defenceman Filip Kuba and centre Stephen Weiss are at -12. Islanders defenceman Travis Hamonic and Andrew MacDonald set the low bar in the NHL at -13 as of Sunday.
