"ï"ï HIS NUMBERS:
Goals: 0 Assists: 0 Pts: 0
"ï"ï HIS ICETIME:
Twenty shifts totalling 18 minutes and 17 seconds.
First Period:
Solid first impression for the big Finn. Working on a line, as expected, with Evander Kane and Kyle Wellwood, the trio did generate chances in their first period together. Fed Kane for a rush on his second shift that saw the big winger clang one off the post.
Second Period:
An uneventful second for the most part, although he was on the ice when Chris Neil banged in the go-ahead goal and finished the night minus-1. Saw some power-play time with his line and his four minutes and 25 seconds on the man advantage was the most of any Jet forward, trailing only Toby Enstrom (6:34) and Dustin Byfuglien (6:23).
Third Period:
Again, nothing that jumps out immediately. Jets' coach Claude Noel attempted to find any line combination that could create some sustained pressure, but left the Jokinen-Kane-Wellwood trio intact.
"ï"ï WHAT WE LIKED:
The first period was especially effective for Jokinen and his new linemates. They cycled the puck well, were quick on the counterattack and flashed some of the chemistry that seemed obvious from the moment they first started skating together at the start of the condensed training camp.
"ï"ï WHAT WE DIDN'T LIKE:
As the game progressed, the chemistry here disappeared, A lot of individualism, and a couple of turnovers by No. 12 himself.
"ï"ï SYNOPSIS:
He'll be much better as the season progresses and the plusses that were evident in the first period with Kane and Wellwood only figure to grow the more they play together. Jokinen only registered one shot, however -- Kane had four and Wellwood one.
