★ Evander Kane, left-winger, Jets: After putting up just three points in his previous 14 games, Kane exploded with three assists and one goal.

He was fast all night and the puck seemed to follow him wherever he went.

★★ Toby Enstrom, defenceman, Jets: Enstrom plays a smart game and has a real goal scorer’s knack when given the chance. His goal in the second period was a perfect shot that Hurricanes goalie Justin Peters had no chance on.

★★★ Ondrej Pavelec, goalie, Jets: Pavelec was there when the Jets needed him.

He’s now started 11 in a row for Winnipeg and is 15-14-2 on the season. He stopped 38 of 39 and coach Claude Noel called him "brilliant."

Attendance -- 16,225 (18,680).

The Hurricanes placed forwards Tim Wallace and Jussi Jokinen on waivers on Tuesday but don't expect the Jets to put a claim in on either player. Wallace is off the radar and while Winnipeg may have liked Jokinen as a player he has another year at $3 million on his contract and the Jets won't be biting on that.

Jets goalie Ondrej Pavelec now has 15 wins, tied for fourth in the NHL and is the league's leader in mintues played with 1,765:54. Pavelec started the season slow but has rounded into form and has been solid in starting 11 straight games, in which the Jets have collected points nine times.
