"Ø"Ø ABOUT THE CANES

-- Carolina has won five of its last six games and has been boosted of late by the return to form of one of their stars, forward Jeff Skinner. Skinner scored four game-winning goals in January, matching the most in a calendar month in franchise history and ranks tied for fourth in the NHL with six game-winners.

-- The other key to their solid run of late -- the Hurricanes went 10-4-0 in January, their third-best month in franchise history -- has been the play of goaltender Anton Khudobin. On Monday he was named the NHL's first star for the month of January. He tied a franchise record for wins in a month with 10, posted a 2.19 GAA and .927 save percentage in 14 games. Cam Ward returned to the ice from injury on Monday but is not expected to start against the Jets.

-- The Hurricanes will have four skaters representing their respective countries in the 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Sochi, Russia: Justin Faulk (USA), Tuomo Ruutu (Finland), Andrej Sekera (Slovakia) and Alexander Semin (Russia).
