Parkland Rangers’ rookie Jayce Hawryluk of Roblin and Norman Northstars’ goaltender Justin Paulic of Thompson have been selected as the Manitoba AAA Midget Hockey League players of the week.
Hawryluk, 15, was named the Chicken Chef West division player of the week after he scored three goals and notched three assists in one game to lead Parkland to a 8-6 win over the Eastman Selects.
Hawryluk leads the Rangers in scoring and is currently tied for ninth in league scoring with 18 goals and 15 assists for 33 points.
Honourable mentions went to Gage Murray of the Southwest Cougars and Mitch Wiebe of the Central Plains Capitals.
Paulic, 16, was named the DEKALB East division player of the week after kicked out 65 of 70 shots he faced in two games last week. In a 3-0 loss last Saturday to the Southwest Cougars, he blocked 32 of 34 shots and then stopped 33 of 36 shots and three of four shoot-out attempts last Sunday in a 4-3 win over the Brandon Wheat Kings.
Paulic, who has played more minutes than any other goaltender in the league, has a 10-7-0-1 record so far with a 3.45 goals-against average and a save percentage of .907.
