Pembina Valley's Mowat named player of the week

Goaltender Brittni Mowat of the Pembina Valley Hawks is the Selkirk Keystone Source for Sports-Reebok player of the week in the Manitoba (AAA) Female Midget Hockey League.

Mowat, a grade 11 student from Glenboro, stopped 112 of 114 shots she faced last week and earned a pair of shut-outs in a three-game sweep of the Winnipeg Avros in the best-of-three MFMHL championship final series.

Mowat, who had a 9-0 in the MFMHL playoffs with a save percentage of .950 and a goals against average of 1.25, and the Hawks will advance to the 2012 Hockey Canada Western Regionals against the Saskatchewan champion.
