  • Print

Michael St. Croix of Winnipeg, an 18-year-old forward with the Western Hockey League’s Edmonton Oil Kings, has been named the Canadian Hockey League player of the week, after also being named WHL player of the week.

St. Croix scored two hat-tricks and 10 points overall as well as a plus-seven rating during three Oil Kings wins last week.

Last Wednesday, St. Croix notched a hat-trick in a 5-0 win at home over the Prince George Cougars. After picking up a pair of assists in a 6-1 road victory last Friday over the Swift Current Broncos, St. Croix notched another hat-trick on Saturday and added two assists in a 9-2 win over the Prince Albert Raiders in Prince Albert.

St. Croix, in his third full season with the Oil Kings, was the fourth-round pick of the New York Rangers in the 2011 NHL Draft. The Oil Kings lead the Eastern Conference standings with 69 points.

The CHL includes the WHL, the Ontario Hockey League and the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.
