Athanasiou scores winner as the Colts edge the Bulls in overtime
BARRIE, Ont. - Andreas Athanasiou scored 2:26 into overtime as the Barrie Colts edged the visiting Belleville Bulls 3-2 in Ontario Hockey League action Saturday night.
Mark Scheifele and Anthony Camara also scored for the Colts (41-19-4), who won their fifth game in a row.
Scheifele's goal was his 14th in his last 13 games while Camara's extended his point streak to nine games.
Daniil Zharkov and Brady Austin scored for the Bulls (40-16-8), who have dropped four of their last five contests.
Barrie's Mathias Niederberger turned aside 19 shots for the win as Belleville's Malcolm Subban made 34 saves in a losing cause.
Both clubs went 0 for 4 on the power play.
The victory moves the Colts to within two points of the Bulls for top spot in the Eastern Conference standings. Each club has four regular-season games remaining.
