Cody Payne has three points as Whalers hammer Niagara IceDogs 7-1

ST. CATHARINES, Ont. - Cody Payne had a goal and two assists as the Plymouth Whalers hammered the Niagara IceDogs 7-1 in Ontario Hockey League action Thursday night.

Garrett Muers scored twice for Plymouth, which improved to (35-17-9) and won for the ninth time in 10 games.

Nick Malysa, Connor Carrick, Vincent Trocheck and Zach Lorentz each scored for the Whalers.

Brett Ritchie had the lone IceDogs goal, breaking Alex Nedeljkovic's shutout bid late in the third period. Nedeljkovic made 25 saves in the win.

Chris Festarini turned aside 36 shots in the loss as Niagara fell to (27-30-4).

Plymouth finished the game 1-for-7 on the power play. Niagara was 0-for-5.
