Fucale stops 28 shots as Mooseheads edge Wildcats in shootout

Zachary Fucale stopped 28 of 30 shots as the Halifax Mooseheads edged the host Moncton Wildcats 3-2 in a shootout on Sunday in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action.

The 17-year-old goaltender improved his record to 43-5-3 and in his last four starts he's put up a .943 save percentage to go along with a 1.90 goals-against average.

Darcy Ashley and Martin Frk scored in the shootout for the Mooseheads (54-6-4), who have picked up at least one point in 13 straight games. Dominic Beauchemin and Luca Ciampini scored in regulation for Halifax.

Allain Saulnier scored both goals for the Wildcats (40-21-3), who are winless in three games, and Cole Holowenko made 24 saves in defeat.

Saulnier has four goals and 13 points in his last nine games and is second in team scoring with 82 points in 64 contests.

Both clubs went 0-for-5 on the power play.

Ciampini regained the lead for Halifax early in the second period, but again Saulnier scored shorthanded to send the game to the third period at two goals apiece.
