A century jam-packed with history is a lot to celebrate. And Hockey Manitoba will do its best to celebrate it all during the 2014-15 season.

Details surrounding the 100th anniversary celebrations were announced Tuesday by the organization and the calender will be full this winter.

Among the many initiatives and events planned:

-- The 100th Anniversary Celebrity Golf Tournament on Aug. 12 at Southwood Golf & Country Club that will feature 144 golfers, including Eddie Belfour, Cody Eakin, Mike Keane, Barry Trotz and Travis Zajac.

-- A Minor Hockey Summit on Sept. 26-27 that will see the stakeholders and decision makers within the province gather to discuss player development.

-- Project 100, a special weekend (Dec. 12-14) dedicated to women's hockey in Winnipeg that will also feature other events including a Hockey Discovery Day, exhibition tournaments, female coaching clinics, a Girls HockeyFest and Female Bantam AAA Showcase.

-- An Outdoor Series that will take place from December through February with approximately 10 league or featured games hosted outdoors during that span and culminating on Sunday, Feb. 15 with a province-wide celebration in 50 communities across Manitoba.

-- The celebrations will come to a close at the 100th Anniversary Gala Dinner on May 9, 2015 in Winnipeg.

Hockey Manitoba has also launched a micro-website dedicated to the 100th Anniversary -- hockeymanitoba.ca/100 -- which will provide information throughout the 2014-15 season, feature profiles of Hockey Manitoba alumni and a chance for fans to pick their Team Manitoba.

The organization also announced all five and six-year old players will receive a free stick this fall, and it will award $25,000 in Scotiabank Community Hockey Grants to communities growing the game.
