Hughson stops 32 shots as the Chiefs blank the Blazers
SPOKANE, Wash. - Garret Hughson earned his second shutout of the season as the Spokane Chiefs blanked the visiting Kamloops Blazers 2-0 on Saturday in Western Hockey League action.
The 17-year-old goaltender stopped 32 shots, including 23 in the final two periods, to improve his record to 7-5-0.
Blake Gal opened the scoring for the Chiefs (36-24-2) at 10:18 of the second period and Todd Fiddler made it 2-0 only 24 seconds later.
Cole Cheveldave made 19 saves in a losing cause for the Blazers (41-17-5), who were shutout for the fourth time this season.
Spokane went 0 for 5 on the power play while Kamloops failed to score on three chances with the man advantage.
