Menard, Goodrow each have a goal and an assist as Battalion hand 67's ninth straight loss

BRAMPTON, Ont. - Francis Menard and Barclay Goodrow each had a goal and an assist as the Brampton Battalion defeated the visitng Ottawa 67's 4-2 on Sunday in Ontario Hockey League action.

Nicholas Foglia and Matt MacLeod also scored for the Battalion (29-24-9), who won for the first time in four outings, while Matej Machovsky stopped 19 shots for the win.

Joseph Blandisi and Sean Monahan scored for the 67's (15-42-5), who are now winless in nine contests.

Jacob Blair turned away 27-of-31 shots in a losing cause.

Brampton opened the scoring on the power play six minutes into the game when Goodrow redirected Menard’s pass by Blair for his team-leading 34th goal of the season.

Ottawa tied the game with a power-play goal of its own when Monahan converted a Brent Gustavsen pass from behind the net.

The Battalion regained the lead on another man advantage situation when Zach Bell’s one-timer from the point was tipped by MacLeod, who was positioned in the high slot.

After Menard gave Brampton a two-goal lead early in the second period, the 67's curbed the deficit to one on a shorthanded effort from Blandisi, who cut to the inside in the high slot and tucked a powerful wrist shot right under the crossbar.

The Battalion restored the two-goal advantage in the third period when Connor Jarvis spotted a driving Foglia, who redirected the pass by Blair.

Brampton went 2 for 5 on the power play while Ottawa scored once on five chances with the man advantage.
