OHL Roundup: Domi with four points as the Knights earn another Holody Trophy

The London Knights have the hardware to prove just how dominant they have been over the last decade.

Max Domi scored twice and added two assists as London crushed its division-rival the Kitchener Rangers 6-1 on Sunday in Ontario Hockey League play.

With the win, the Knights clinched first in the OHL's Western Conference and also secured the Holody Trophy for being the top club in the Midwest Division. It is the eighth time in the last 10 seasons that London has earned the Holody Trophy.

Domi's four-point performance gives him 39 goals and 82 points in 59 games, which moves him into a tie with Seth Griffith for the team lead in points.

Alex Broadhurst scored two goals and assisted on one more for the Knights (46-12-4), who extended their win streak to seven games, and Chris Tierney and Remi Elie added single goals.

Olli Maatta and Tommy Hughes each had two assists for London.

Defenceman Evan McEneny scored the lone goal for the Rangers (36-18-8), who lost for the first time in four outings, while Radek Faksa and Justin Bailey were each a team-worst minus-3.

London's Anthony Stolarz stopped 30 shots for the win as Kitchener's Joel Vienneau made 27 saves in a losing cause.

The Knights went 3 for 7 on the power play while the Rangers failed to score on three chances with the man advantage.

The Holody trophy was first awarded in 1998-99 by Joe Holody, who was franchise governor of both the Guelph and Owen Sound Platers.

Elsewhere in the OHL, it was: Brampton 4, Ottawa 2; Plymouth 5, Mississauga 0; Niagara 9, Windsor 4; Oshawa 4, Kingston 2; Guelph 4, Sudbury 2 and Sault Ste. Marie 4 Peterborough 0.

At London, Broadhurst opened the scoring at 18:37 of the first period before McEneny responded for the Rangers only 37 seconds later to send the game to intermission tied 1-1.

Domi regained the lead for the Knights 49 seconds into the second period and Broadhurst and Tierney tacked on two more goals before the period wrapped up, giving London a 4-1 advantage after 40 minutes of action.

Domi opened the third period with a goal at 8:13 and Elie put the game out of reach only three minutes later as Stolarz stopped all 13 shots he faced in the final 20 minutes.
