Whistle makes 39 saves as Rockets extend win streak
VANCOUVER - Jackson Whistle stopped 39 shots as the Kelowna Rockets downed the host Vancouver Giants 6-2 on Friday in Western Hockey League play.
Damon Severson, Colton Sissons and Tyson Baillie each had a goal and an assist for the Rockets (51-16-4), who extended their win streak to five games, while Austin Glover, Rourke Chartier and Zach Franko had the others.
Carter Popoff and Travis McEvoy had a goal and an assist apiece for the Giants (21-48-2), who will miss the post season for just the second time in 12 seasons.
Payton Lee took the loss after giving up six goals on 20 shots in 25 minutes of action. Jared Rathjen replaced Lee and stopped all six shots he faced in relief.
Kelowna went 1 for 5 on the power while Vancouver scored once on six chances with the man advantage.
