Highlight reel Rampage 5 Moose 4 (OT)

Kevin Porter tipped in the winning goal 45 seconds into overtime to give the San Antonio Rampage a wild 5-4 win over the Manitoba Moose before 9,358 fans at the MTS Centre. Manitoba forced the overtime with two of the three goals in the final 4:11 of regulation, including Marty Murray's tip-in of Evan Oberg's centring pass with 20.3 seconds remaining.

The Moose have lost eight of the last nine, giving up 49 goals in that stretch.

Murray's goal erased a potential controversy in which a clear kicked puck by San Antonio's Jeff Hoggan at 17:54 of the third period was allowed to stand by referee Kyle Rehman, who always seems to be in the middle of some kind of mess when he works in Winnipeg.

Game-breaker

Porter. He tipped in Mikkel Boedker's pass in overtime, putting his stick in just the right place as he went to the Moose net.

Nick who?

D Nick Boynton, assigned here earlier in the week by the Anaheim Ducks, was rendered ineligible to play Friday night when the Ducks recalled him earlier in the day. Boynton, however, must go through re-entry waivers, so one way or another, he's on his way back to the NHL today. If another team claims him, it will only be on the hook for half of the remaining portion of his $1.5-million salary, a bargain for some depth before the March 3 trading deadline.

Out They Go

Monday, the Moose will go outdoors for their practice. The annual affair takes place this time at Fort Garry Community Centre at 6 p.m. The two-hour session will include a game of shinny against the Fort Garry North Red and Black 8A-1 teams, followed by an autograph session. The outdoor practice host's role was the second prize in last season's community jersey program/contest.

Strategy shift

In the wake of so many goals against lately, the Moose tried to adjust their normal game plan this week and might have slowed the Rampage down a little in the neutral zone. The home team, though, couldn't overcome some spells of serious sloppiness.

"We'll see how it goes tonight," coach Scott Arniel said before the game. "There will be some growing pains. In saying that, we'll just keep it... close to the vest."
