Jets looking to bounce back

NEWARK, N.J. – Two clubs who took one on the chin will be up off the mat and back at it again when the Winnipeg Jets face the New Jersey Devils this afternoon at the Prudential Center.

The Jets are coming off a 5-3 loss to the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday, a game in which they led at one point 3-1 but fell apart courtesy some iffy special teams. The Flyers scored four unanswered and were 3-for-6 on the power-play in the deciding factor for the game.

The Devils, meanwhile, were scorched 5-1 by Alex Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals Saturday afternoon. Ovechkin torched the Devils for three goals and an assist in the win.

The Jets have made one roster adjustment, activating veteran winger Antti Miettinen – who had been out with a concussion – from the injured-reserve list and he’ll make his 2013 debut today. He’ll play on a line with Olli Jokinen and Eric Tangradi, likely meaning that Kyle Wellwood, who is still searching for his first goal of the season, will sit out.

This is the fourth of a five-game road-trip for the Jets, who are 2-1 so far and wrap up their longest trek of the year Tuesday in New York against the Rangers.

Winnipeg is 7-9-1 and four points back of the Tampa Bay Lightning, who lead the Southeast Division with a 9-7-1 mark and 19 points. The Jets are tied with Carolina for 10th spot in the Eastern Conference -- four points back of the eighth-place Flyers.

New Jersey is 10-4-4 and tied for first in the Atlantic Division with Pittsburgh.
