Devils star coming back

  • Print

THE Ilya Kovalchuk saga could be coming to an end.

New Jersey Devils winger Kovalchuk, who served as captain of SKA St. Petersburg during the lockout, will play in the Kontinental Hockey League All-Star Game, but that's expected to be it.

Tweeted Yahoo's Dmitry Chesnokov: "According to SKA coach, yesterday's (Thursday's) game was most likely the last in the KHL for Kovalchuk, meaning he will leave for NJ as early as Monday."

The all-star game is Sunday, the same day that NHL training camps are expected to open. The Russia-based league has announced that Kovalchuk will be captain of the West squad.

Kovalchuk has more than $80 million remaining on his 15-year, $100 million deal.
