Lidstrom content to stay retired

NICKLAS LIDSTROM did his retirement the perfect way, and he isn't rethinking it.

A report in Sweden's Aftonbladet on Wednesday said Detroit Red Wings coach Mike Babcock reached out to Lidstrom this week to see about a possible comeback. But it wasn't quite that.

Babcock told the Detroit Free Press that all he did was ask Lidstrom whether he missed hockey.

Lidstrom replied that he loves being with his kids, and while he has attended some Swedish Elite league games and "when the crowd gets going, he gets excited," it's not enough to warrant any reconsideration.

Lidstrom told Babcock that he doesn't miss hockey "enough to get his equipment on."

Lidstrom, 42, retired last May, about a month after the Red Wings' season ended.
