KANE'S DEBUT

Winnipeg Jet forward Evander Kane made his KHL debut Tuesday night in Dinamo Minsk's 2-1 loss to Lokomotiv.

Having arrived in Belarus on Monday, Kane -- wearing No. 98 -- had 17 shifts totalling 16 minutes and one second for Minsk, fired six shots, took one minor penalty and was one for two in the faceoff circle.

PAVELEC STRUGGLING

And in Czech Extraliga play, Jet netminder Ondrej Pavelec -- now with Liberec -- was lit up for four goals before being pulled midway through Tuesday's 6-4 loss to HC Slavia Praha. Marian Jelinek, Liberec's head coach apparently said this afterward, although Pavelec now has an 0-5 record with a 4.63 goals against average and 85.91 save percentage.

Yuck.

STEEN SCORCHING

Alex Steen of the St. Louis Blues and born in Winnipeg, has been ripping up the Swedish Elite League since heading overseas to join MoDo. Steen had a goal and an assist in Tuesday's 2-0 win over the Vaxjo Lakers and how has eight points in four games.

Toby Enstrom of the Jets, who is practising with MoDo, has yet to suit up for the Swedish side and they might not add him to their roster. MoDo is waiting to see if more NHLers join the league before activating Enstrom.

ON THE MOVE

NHL player movement, some rumoured, some confirmed:

-- Jamie Benn, Dallas, Hamburg (German Bundesliga)

-- Matt Duchene, Colorado, Frolunda (Swedish Elite League)

-- Corey Potter, Edmonton, Vienna (Erste Bank Hockey League, Austria)

-- Patrice Bergeron, Boston, Lugano (Switzerland)

MEANWHILE,

IN MAGNITOGORSK

The KHL and ESPN3 have struck a deal that will see the American-based network televise games from the Russian league, including five in the next two weeks.

Not sure how that will play with diehard hockey fans, especially knowing the time difference between Winnipeg and Moscow, for example, is eight hours. TSN, Sportsnet and the CBC have not -- not yet, at least -- made similar arrangements.
