NHL Day 28

PONI UP

New Jet winger Alex Ponikarovsky had a goal and an assist for Donbass Donetsky in their 5-4 loss to Dinamo Minsk on Wednesday. Ex-Jet Tim Stapleton had three assists for Minsk and Evander Kane, called out by his coach for not being in shape over the weekend, did not dress.

QUOTABLE

"It's just embarrassing for everybody. There's a lot of talk for the fans. They're the ones who don't have a voice and aren't being heard in these negotiations. It's tough on them, but it's frustrating for players.

We want to play hockey. It's what we've been doing since we've been young," -- Duncan Keith of the Chicago Blackhawks in an interview with CSNChicago.com

SID SAYS

"It's not something you want to be doing in October; you'd rather be starting the season. It is what it is. You can't really do much but sit and wait. I think we're willing to make a deal. I don't think there's a deal to be made right now. There's their deal and then there's our deal and they want their deal."

-- Pittsburgh Penguins superstar Sidney Crosby

ON THE MOVE

Notable NHL player movement, some rumoured, some confirmed:

Dale Weise, Vancouver, Tilburg (Dutch Eredivisie). Weise will replace Pittsburgh's Dustin Jeffrey with the Tilburg Trappers. Jeffrey was initially headed to the Dutch club but instead signed with Medvescak Zagreb of the Austrian league.

Jonathan Bernier, Los Angeles, Heilbronner Falken (German tier two league)

Viktor Stalberg, Chicago, Frolunda (Swedish Elite League)

Milan Michalek, Ottawa, Budejovice (Czech Extraliga)

Peter Regin, Ottawa, Herning (Denmark)

Jack Skille, Florida, Rosenborg (GET-ligaen, Norway)

Ben Bishop, Ottawa, Binghampton (AHL)
