Red Wings sign college blue-liner

DETROIT -- The Detroit Red Wings signed former Western Michigan defenceman Dan DeKeyser to a two-year contract Friday.

The 23-year-old DeKeyser, from Clay Township, had two goals and 13 assists in 35 games this season for the Broncos and was selected the Central Collegiate Hockey Association's best defensive defenceman for the second consecutive year. He was a free agent after going undrafted.

Coyotes, Oilers swap prospects

GLENDALE, Ariz. -- The Phoenix Coyotes acquired Tobias Rieder from the Edmonton Oilers on Friday for fellow junior forward Kale Kessy.

Rieder, from Germany, had 27 goals and 29 assists in 52 games this season for the Kitchener Rangers in the Ontario Hockey League. Kessy had 12 goals and 13 assists in 31 games this season for the Kamloops Blazers in the Western Hockey League.
