PITTSBURGH -- Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews left Chicago's game at Pittsburgh with an apparent upper-body injury Sunday night.
Toews was drilled by Penguins defenceman Brooks Orpik at 6:30 of the second period on Sunday night. The two were going for a loose puck.
Toews got up slowly and was seen holding his left arm on the bench before heading down the runway. He did not return to the game, a 4-1 Pittsburgh win.
The Blackhawks, who clinched a playoff berth on Saturday, are already without star forward Patrick Kane, who is out for the rest of the regular season with a lower-body injury.
Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville said Toews was day-to-day.
"We'll get a better assessment (today)," Quenneville said.
