Some of the world's best English billiards players will be in Winnipeg from August 24 to 29, competing for over $12,500 in prizes and a berth into the World English Billiards Championships 2013.

The inaugural America's Cup English Billiards Open is one of four premiere open tournaments on the World Professional Circuit this season, and will be the first international Pro/Am English Billiards event ever held in Canada.

Among those in attendance will be 11-time World Champion Mike Russell, dubbed "the Gretzky of the modern game" by a press release sent by the America's Cup planning committee Saturday.

The America's Cup will be held in the Billiards Room at the Manitoba Club on Broadway.

The event itself will be hosted in the Billiards Room at the historic Manitoba Club, western Canada’s oldest private club. This 110-year old facility, and its fabled antique snooker tables, will provide a dramatic backdrop and welcome the World’s finest players!

A local association, the Veteran English Billiards League (since 1921), along with the World English Billiards Association, Canadian Billiards & Snooker Association and the International Billiards & Snooker Federation are all connected to this event. As event hosts in 2013, the Americas Cup English Billiards Open Committee is committed to creating a first class player and spectator experience.
