A 107-2 hoops thumping prompts official's protest

INDIANAPOLIS -- An Indiana high school girls basketball team routed an opponent 107-2 this week, prompting an official with the state prep sports association to say he never wants to see anything so one-sided again.

Bloomington South coach Larry Winters told the Indianapolis Star there was no effort to embarrass Arlington or run up the score during Tuesday's game. He says he played all nine of his players and didn't stop shooting because "that would have been more embarrassing" to Arlington, whose only points came on a free throw in the second quarter and another in the third.

Als make Meyer new OC

MONTREAL -- Offensive-line coach Pat Meyer is the new offensive co-ordinator of the Montreal Alouettes.

The CFL club announced Wednesday that Meyer will be offensive co-ordinator while retaining responsibility for coaching one of the league's best front fives.

He replaced Marcus Brady, who left to become offensive co-ordinator of the Toronto Argonauts.

Meyer was offensive co-ordinator for two seasons at Colorado State before joining the Alouettes this season.

"His previous experience as an offensive co-ordinator as well as his knowledge of the our players and this league will be great assets," head coach Marc Trestman said in a statement. "Our players appreciate working with him, which made the decision that much easier."
