Bangladesh wins toss, bowls first against West Indies in 1st test at Arnos Vale

ARNOS VALE, St. Vincent - Bangladesh captain Mushfiqur Rahim won the toss and chose to bowl first against the West Indies in the first cricket test at the Arnos Vale Sports Complex on Friday.

Bangladesh gave debuts to left-arm spinner Taijul Islam and allrounder Shuvagata Hom. The touring team omitted Anamul Haque, Robiul Islam, Shafiul Islam and Elias Sunny from its squad of 15.

The West Indies chose six batsmen in its final 11 with fast bowling allrounder Jason Holder and offspinner Shane Shillingford left out.

Veteran Shivnarine Chanderpaul, who turned 40 on Aug. 16, became the ninth West Indian to play test cricket as a 40-year-old.

Bangladesh: Tamim Iqbal, Shamsur Rahman, Imrul Kayes, Mominul Haque, Mushfiqur Rahim (captain), Mahmudullah, Nasir Hossain, Shuvagata Hom, Taijul Islam, Al-Amin Hossain, Rubel Hossain.
