Defending champion Chiefs beat Cheetahs 45-3 in Super Rugby
HAMILTON, New Zealand - Fullback Gareth Anscombe scored 20 points as the defending champion Chiefs beat the Cheetahs 45-3 on Saturday to sustain their winning start to the Super Rugby season.
Anscombe scored a try and maintained a perfect kicking record, landing six conversions and a penalty, as the Hamilton-based Chiefs backed up their 41-27 win over the Highlanders in which Anscombe scored 21 points.
The Chiefs started slowly, taking 17 minutes to score their first points and 25 minutes to score their first try, through captain Liam Messam.
Tries followed to Anscombe, props Ben Afeaki and Ben Tameifuna, winger Asaeli Tikoirotua and replacement Rhys Marshall.
