Canada's Calve wins season-ending World Cup parallel slalom snowboard race

MOSCOW - Canada's Caroline Calve won a women's parallel slalom race on Saturday for her first World Cup snowboard victory of the season.

On a huge ramp in downtown Moscow, the rider from Gatineau, Que., beat Poland's Aleksandra Krol in the final, while Russia's Stanislav Detkov edged Italy's Nevin Galmarini to take the men's title.

Russia's Ekaterina Tudegesheva finished third in the women's event, while a quarter-final appearance was enough for Switzerland's Patrizia Kummer to claim the discipline title with 1,690 points. Germany's Amelie Kober was 90 points behind for second, while Calve had 1,390 for third.

Italy's Roland Fischnaller edged Justin Reiter of the United States for third in the men's race to claim the overall discipline title with 2,200 points. Slovenia's Zan Kosir had 1,617 points for second, while Italy's Aaron March finished third with 1,500.

This was the last parallel slalom event of the season.
