England win toss, will bowl first in 5th test; Broad, Ishant Sharma playing

  • Print

LONDON - England captain Alastair Cook won the toss and elected to bowl first against India in overcast conditions at the Oval, after overnight and morning rain delayed the start of the fifth test by 30 minutes on Friday.

England was unchanged from the victorious fourth test at Old Trafford, meaning Stuart Broad starts, despite his broken nose sustained in that match. Broad exploited similar conditions at Old Trafford to take 6-25 in India's first innings.

Ishant Sharma returned from a leg injury for India in place of Pankaj Singh, while Stuart Binny replaced Ravindra Jadeja.

England leads the five-match contest 2-1, and needs only a draw for a series victory.
