Fit-again allrounder Ben Stokes called up by England for 1st test against India in Nottingham

  • Print

LONDON - England has recalled fit-again allrounder Ben Stokes to a 13-man squad for the first of five tests against India starting next week in Nottingham.

Stokes was one of the few successes in England's humiliating Ashes tour in Australia around the turn of the year but missed the recent two-test series against Sri Lanka, which England lost 1-0, due to a broken wrist sustained by punching a locker.

Otherwise, England selectors have kept faith with the same 12 players that featured in the two tests against Sri Lanka.

The first test will be played at Trent Bridge, starting on July 9

___

England squad: Alastair Cook (captain), Sam Robson, Gary Ballance, Ian Bell, Joe Root, Moeen Ali, Ben Stokes, Matt Prior, James Anderson, Stuart Broad, Chris Jordan, Liam Plunkett, Chris Woakes.
