Gear up for the hunting season

Hunting season is here! Time to invest in a few new items for the months ahead. Truthfully, all you really need is a licence and a weapon of choice to get out there, but some new gear can certainly make your hunt more comfortable and perhaps more successful. If you just can't splurge on yourself, perhaps you'll leave this list on the kitchen table as a hint for the holidays ahead.

Caldwell Deadshot Fieldpod

  • $119.99, Cabela's

It's lightweight, portable and loaded with features. This rest is made from corrosion-resistant aluminum and weighs just over two kilograms. One-piece design quickly collapses and folds for traveling and storage. The detachable strap is included.

Big Game Redemption Ground Blind

  • $239.99, Cabela's

Go where the game is. Lower, upper and roof brush strips help this blind blend in by adding vegetation. Room for two with covered windows, maintenance-free hubs, large reinforced stake loops on all four corners and four tie-downs for fast setup. It comes with nine steel stakes and a carry bag with padded backpack straps.

Single Long-Gun Rifle Case

  • $99.99, Cabela's

Planning a hunting trip? This case has a pressure-release valve to equalize pressure during air travel. It's waterproof with a customizable, high-density foam interior. The powder-coated steel draw latches snap the case shut securely. It'll accommodate a single-scoped rifle or shotgun.
